The Jujutsu Aisen flows through all living things as a result of the presence of negative emotions. The average person lacks the ability to regulate this internal current. Because of this, they are constantly losing Cursed Energy, which gives rise to Curses (, Noroi), a race of spiritual creatures whose sole purpose in life is to hurt humans. Monsters, ghosts, and ykai of horrible design represent these Curses.

Sorcerers who have mastered the art of Jujutsu (, Jujutsushi, lit. “Cursed Technique Masters” or “Shamans”) are able to direct the flow of Cursed Energy within their bodies and use or contain it as they see fit. Cursed Techniques (, Jujutsushiki) are typically exclusive to the person or their family, however powerful Sorcerers and Curses can refine this energy and use it to their advantage.

At the Jujutsu school exchange between Tokyo and Kyoto, the principal of the Kyoto school has ordered that Yuji be killed immediately. However, some people, such as Tokyo University freshman Nobara Kugisaki, agree with Gojo and want to see Yuji live.

Geto locks Gojo imprisoned in a mysterious item as Gojo battles and exorcises numerous Cursed Spirits. In addition, the occurrences demonstrate that the current Geto is not the original but rather Geto’s body possessed by a sorcerer from antiquity named Kenjaku.

Sukuna takes over Yuji’s body and destroys Shibuya while Nobara is gravely injured by Mahito, who is absorbed by Kenjaku, as Yuji and his allies confront Kenjaku’s army with Gojo still trapped inside the artifact.

At the conclusion of the incident, Kenjaku reveals that he has been implanting Binding Vows in bodies for thousands of years, thereby reawakening thousands of dormant sorcerers across Japan, including Megumi’s step-sister Tsumiki Fushiguro.

Then, Kenjaku casts a wide variety of Curses across Japan, ushering in an era of chaos and Cursed Spirits reminiscent of the Heian era, the golden age of Jujutsu Sorcerers.
